Description | This richly gilded carved oak reredos was placed in the south transept by Mr & Mrs Thomas Brocklebank of Heswall, in 1906 in memory of their two daughters. The design for this and the Altar was furnished by Mr C.E.Kemp. The figures were carved at Oberammergau, by {no name] The centre figure is that of St Oswald, and on either side a scene from his life. The carving to the left represents his victory over Cadwaladr. The scene on the other side, that of St Oswald's death on August 5th 642. |
