DescriptionEdmund Keene born 1713 was consecrated Bishop of Chester on Palm Sunday 1752. He erected the palace in 1753 which was built of red sandstone at a cost of £200 (Northgate Street). Translated to Ely in 1771, he died in 1787 and was buried in Ely Cathedral where his tomb bears an inscription from his own pen.
