Title	Engraving: The Abbey Gateway.

Description	From Northgate Street. Erected about 1377. The pricipal entrance to the Abbey of St Werburgh, was from Northgate Street through the greater Abbey Gate. This led into a space nearly co-extensive with the present Abbey Square, surrounded on three sides with offices of the convent, and on the fourth by the Abbot's house, this stood on ther site now occupied by the King's School.
