DescriptionThis cloister which had been entirely destroyed, was rebuilt 1869-70, it's reconstruction being necessary for the mechanical support of the inner roof of the north aisle of the nave. During the process of excavating for the foundation of this cloister, the places of internment of three of the early Abbots were discovered, and several crushed and broken cloister tiles were found, some of them in situ, and sufficient to lead to the recovery of the old designs of the pavement.
