Description | The Palace was erected of red sand stone in 1753 by Bishop Keene at the cost of £2000. Bishop Graham was the last Prelate who resided here. On the appointment of Bishop Jacobson, he recommended the Eclesiastical Commissioners to erect the present Palace near St John's Church. The old Palace was sold to the Dean and Chapter for £3000 under the sanction of the Eclesiastical commissioners. Thre building was partly pulled down in 1874 and on it's site was erected the King's school. |
