After 1906, it comprised Cheshire, Cumberland, Herefordshire, Lancashire, Monmouthshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Westmorland and Wales. The specialist sanitary officer was adviser to the principal medical officer, who in turn advised the general officer commanding in chief. |
