Description | The Local Government Act, 1929, transferred responsibility for the administration of the poor law from local boards of guardians to county councils and county borough councils. In 1948, a Welfare Committee was appointed by the Council. In 1971, the Welfare was absorbed to the new Social Services Department. The records include a register of those receiving a coronation souvenir; and records of Sealand House: account books; property registers; admission and discharge registers and files; deceased persons' files; lunacy orders; medical officer's reports; a punishment book; and files concerning food supplies and applications for jobs. |
