DescriptionParties: 1. Thomas Stapulton' of Vpton' [Upton] in com.Cestr' [Chester], 2. Catrine daughter of Roger Downes of Shrigley [Pott Shrigley], now wife of Thomas Stapleton of Vpton [Upton] junior.

Settlement; grant with Warranty contra omnes gentes for term of life as Jointure to party 2 of an annual rent of 4 marks issueing from lands and tenements in a certain place called Vpton' [Upton] payable half-yearly, as agreed in Indentures 20 October 1550 between Roger Downez of Shrigley [Pott Shrigley] Esq and Thomas Stapleton; with remainder after Catrine's death to Thomas Stapleton junior her husband and his heirs begotten upon her, thence to the heirs of his body.

Endorsed: certificate of livery of seisin by token of 1d. to Catrine, same day, in presence of Jasper Worth Esq, Lawrence Downes, Ralph Renshaw chaplain, Henry Barlow.
