Letters of Probate issued in the Prerogative Court of York by Richard Farley LL.D., (franked; Ric'us Farley) on behalf of Robert Archbishop of York, in respect of the Will (attached) viz;- 8 May 1552. Will Testator: Roger Downes of Shrigley [Pott Shrigley] in the parish of Prestbur' [Prestbury] Esq. Executors: Elyn Downes his wife and Laurence Downes his son. Witnesses: Lawrence Downes Gent., Rauff Raynshaghe priest, Humfrie Blackshaghe, Richard Cepson, Edward Durnynge. Beneficiaries: the executors. Latin (Probate) and English (Will) Mark: B. b. o. 38 6.E.6.
Physical Description	Parchment: 2 membranes joined by a common seal label; 1. Probate, 12½" wide by 3½". 2. Will, 12½" wide by 6¼". Seal missing, trace of red wax 30mm diam (the seal of Causes of the Prerogative Court of York).
