Declaration of Uses of a Fine levied 20 February 1576 at the Great Sessions of Common Pleas in the County of Chester before Sir John Throckmorton Kt Justice of the afsd county to Sir Peter Legh Kt, John Savage, John Warren, Robert Huyde, Henry Eccleston, Robert Langton, Esqs, John Maysterson and John Davenport Gents, in 40 messuages, 40 tofts, 2 mills, 2 dovehouses, 40 gardens, 2,000 acres of land, 80 acres of meadow, 200 acres of pasture, 80 acres of wood, 200 acres of heath and turbary, and 40 shillings revenues, in Woorth [Worth], Poynton, Taxall [Taxal], Adlyngton [Adlington], Torkynton [Torkington], Ketlesholme [Kettleshulme], Vpton [Upton], Macclesfeld [Macclesfield], and Potteshrigley [Pott Shrigley]; levied in pursuance of an Indenture 10 August 1575 between 1. Roger Downes 2. Thomas Stanley of Alderley countie of Chester Esq and to uses therein, specifying inter alia the right of Roger Downes to assign not more than £30 per annum from the issues of the estate to the preferment of his children: Roger Downes assigns the rents and issues of closes called the Heighefielde, the Castellfelde, the Corstie felde, the longe Hays barne, the litle Hays Barne, the lower Worthe, in Poynton and Worthe [Worth], and closes called the Crabtrie flatte, the wheate Houte, the wood Houlte, the further Medowe, in Adlington countye of Chester (being parcel of the lands etc conveyed by the afsd Fine), for term of 200 years to the preferment of his three daughters Frances, Dorothy and Margaret Downes.
