Covenant in consideration of £200 to Surrender to Use of Edward Downes junior in the Hallimote of the Manor or Forest of Macolesfeild [Macclesfield] lands specified (v. infra) in which Edward Downes senior is interested for term of life with remainder his son by virtue of an Indenture 3-part of 4 August 1685 between 1. Edward Downes senior and Edward Junior 2. Thomas Cooper and John Matter Gents 3. Francis Lindley Esq, George Piggot Esq and Thomas Minshall Gent and also by virtue of a Surrender 26 April 1685 in Hallmot of Mannor and Forest of Macclesfeild [Macclesfield] held at Macclesfeild [Macclesfield] from Edward Downes senior and Edward Downes junior and Richard Legh of lyme Esq and others to the said Francis Lindley, George Piggot and Thomas Minshall. Lands specified; all those customary or copyhold messuages tenements etc in Bollington (or Bollinton) Hurdsfeild [Hurdsfield] and Ranowe [Rainow] in the Manor or Forest of Macclesfeild [Macclesfield] now or lately occupied by Edward Dale, George Turnor, Philip Ouldham, William Glover, John Platte, Catherine Clarke, Hugh Greene, George Shrigley, Thomas Norbury, William Wheeldon, Edward Lownds and Francis Adshead tenants of Edward Downes senior, and also all that copyhold messuage and tenement etc in Hurdsfeild [Hurdsfield] occupied by Thomas Downes Gent younger son of Edward Downes senior and also those houses buildings etc and lands and rents thereof in Hurdsfeild [Hurdsfield] and Bollington viz;- 8d. per annum from lands occupied by John Brundreth of Bollington, 8d. per annum from lands occupied by George Turner of Bollington, 2s. 8d. per annum similarly from Jasper Shatwell of Bollington, 2d. per annum from Richard Ouldham of Bollington, and 2s. per annum from land in Hurdsfeild [Hurdsfield] called Swanscow Parke.
