Downes & Skelhorne have lands contiguous in which are coalmines. Downes complains that Skelhorne has mined coal under Downes's land, to Daownes's damage, and has removed £80 worth of Downes's coal, and also by making false promises of compensation he has delayed investigation of trespass; for all which Downes seeks redress.
Note 1: Messuage or Tenement in Bollington within the hundred of Maccl' [Macclesfield] called Hill Top Tenement.
Note 2: Ab't 4 or 5 years agoe young Mr. Downes married when the hows in Pot' [Pott Shrigley] was conveyed to him.
