Transcript;-
Sir,
This comes to acquaint You of the death of Captain Henry Spelman the 18th of April 1765 and by his Will he has appointed you with the Marchioness of Annandale Peter Downes and Elizabeth Domville his Executors and Residuary Legatees and myself his Executor to Remit from here his Estate. I have taken this first conveyance to inform You thereof --- Peter Downes Esq One of the Legatees comes home in the Ship that brings this Letter and has with him a Letter addressed to all the Executors and inclosed therein is an attested Inventory of his Effects. Mr Downes has also with him the Duplicate of Captain. Spelman's Will and on his Arrival wil give you Notice that Joint Probat may be taken, for other particulars I must Refer you to Mr Downes and have now only to beg the favour of a Line to acknowledge the Receipt of this/I am/Sir/Your most obed.Ser.
