DescriptionMajor collection relating to the Cheshire estates of the Tollemache family of Helmingham Hall, Suffolk, acquired through marriage with the Wilbrahams of Woodhey in 1680, in Woodhey, Acton, Faddiley, Baddiley, Nantwich, Tilstone Fearnall, Bunbury and elsewhere, the royal lordship of Tintwistle with lands in Tintwistle and Mottram in Longdendale, and estates, purchased in 1840 from Lord Mostyn, in Beeston and Peckforton. Includes deeds and leases c. 1420- 1959, settlements and mortgages 1674-1958, rentals, valuations and detailed surveys 1600-1926, estate maps and plans 1767-1869, Alpraham manorial records 1724-69, Mottram in Longdendale and other manorial records 1601-1844, household inventories for Peckforton Castle and Helmingham Hall 20th century, estate and family papers and correspondence 1618-1967, financial records 1740-1954.
