Administrative History | The Weaver Navigation Act, 1721, empowered a group of commissioners to make the Weaver navigable as far as Winsford, to facilitate the transport of salt and other products. As well as details of the building and management of the navigation, the records supply names of ships and owners and details of cargoes. Copy minutes and annual accounts can also be found in the quarter sessions records (QDN 2), and files relating to parliamentary legislation in the county council records (CCP). |
