[2] At the court held at Newhall on the feast of the discovery of the Holy Cross in the thirty sixth year of the reign of King Henry VI came John Shokelage, senior and
[3] to return [surrender] into the hands of the lord of Audeley one messuage and twenty four and a half acres of land held in Wrenbure Fryth [Wrenbury Frith] for the need [use] of John Shokelag,
[4] his son, who also came here into court through Stephen Dod, his attorney, and then took seisin
[5] to be held to him and his lawful heirs according to the cause [customs] of the manor. And should it happen the said John, his son,
[6] dies without lawful heir, then the said messuage and lands with all their appurtenances shall fully remain to the said
[7] John Shokelage, senior, father of the said John, his son, to be held to him, his heirs and assigns et cetera and to Audeley, the said lord
[8] to enter upon - thirteen shillings, four pence. And he did not make fine [make fealty]. In witness of which John Harryson, locum tenens of the seneschal [steward]there, has
[9] has affixed his seal to this copy. Given as above.
