TitleLetters charting the Battle of Alma, Crimean War to Lord de Tabley from a military source.
Date1854
DescriptionLetters, signature initials illegible (Possibly C.G) charting the Battle of Alma, Crimean War, includes opinions of Lord Raglan in command of the British forces, Prince Menchikoff the Russians and Marshal Armand Jacques Leroy de St Arnaud in command of the French side and brief accounts of the various skirmishes of the battle, numbers of men killed and wounded and how many were officers. A suggestion there will be an offensive on Sebastapol but then in the next letter this is refuted and the possible location switched to Balaclava and news that St Arnaud may have been killed in combat. Also one letter recites a tale that the British Consul at Bucharest had received a congratulatory message from Omer Parka after the success of Sebastopol the news of victory having been transported by steamer boat.
