f.1.2. From the Evidences of Toft
1271 Ralph son of William de Noewicus granted to Roger de Leycester half a salt house with 4 leads in Norwicus (Northwich) which Henry son of Richard de Crodton held for a term of years; also the tenement which John Dulfoul once held for terms of years and the toft which Thomas once held for terms of years, in the vill of Norwicus, in the fee of Wynnington. He also confirmed to Roger the lands which Sibilla, Ralph's wife and John de Hembury, justices itinerant for pleas of the forest in the county of York (Latin).

Roger de Leycester senior accused William, son of Robert le Taylour of Devonshire and Roger son of John Tirk of Nether Tabley, of entering Roger's turbary at Over Tabley together with William son of William de Tabley and Margaret his wife and taking turves to the value of £40 (Latin).

The King announced to Henry de Ravenscroft escheator of Chester the result of an Inquisitio post mortem as to the lands of Hugh de Holes. Thomas Holes, his son and heir, was 2 years old. (Latin, transcript). He also extracted the names of the justices of the peace for Bucklow Hundred (custodes pacis) c5 and 6 Henry V
