She is willing to keep her presence at Tabley a secret but is unwilling to remain two hundred miles away while her child suffers. She is upset because everyone believes she is heartless because she has not gone to her daughter but she feels she cannot tell them why. She then suggests a possible remedy to ease the suffering.
Letter from W.W Sernien regarding a scheme designed by Sir John to encourage the art of engraving. Sernien believes that support for the plan can only be gained through the further involvement of Sir John and reformation of the committee and comments on the current public apathy and infers that a particular individual is poring unfounded scorn on the project.
Letter from John Corry seeking Sir John's patronage for his book 'Memoirs of an Author' and enrolment as a subscriber.
Letter from Lavinia Cottin thanking Sir John for £30 he has sent her but asking for more money to pay of debts she has run up. She is delighted to hear that Georgiana appears to be well again and gives her best wishes to Sir John and the boys, she mentions the meeting of the Reformers on the 9th and comments on the trouble they must cause Sir John.
Letter from William Carey recounting his anxiety for the wellbeing of Sir John's family last Tuesday when the fire alarm was raised and his relief to discover that although one wing of Tabley House has been burnt down the family are safe. He also requests details of the fire, where it started, how etc so as to write a piece for a periodical.
