Presentments at Quarter SessionsPages damaged and partly missing. Page 18. Inquest [held in the Common Hall of] Pleas before.. on Monday next after the Feast of St. Edward, King [22 Hen. VII] [22nd March, 1507?], on the oaths of Nicholas Neuhouse, Randle Smythe, sherman, Thomas Gardyner, Thomas Robynson, barker, John Bradfild, Roger Tailior, founder, Richard Leddesham, heuster, David Robynson, sherman, Thomas Dalbye, William Leche, fishmonger, Thomas Weddyng, William Huntyngtun, smith, and others [illegible]. Robert Mascye of Golborn (12d) obstructed the highway outside le.. of the City with timber and wood. Je. of Chester (6d) obstructed the same highway. The said Je. (40d) frequently brewed ale and is not of the franchise. Thomas Walsh, late of the City of Chester (40d?), brewed ale etc. and is not of the franchise. William Lancaster, late of the said City (illegible), sold beer within the liberties. Richard Fynchett, late of Chester (illegible) for the same. Page 18v. Thomas.. highway, viz. a certain lane called le Barkers lane. 5 line entry mainly illegible John Wrono, wright, late of the City of Chester (2s), is a gambler and keeps gamblers in his house playing super articulos.. at all hours of the night. John Thomasson, late of Wa. in the county of Chester, husbandman (6s:8d), forestalled 100 bushels o page . coming to the market. William Percivall, late of Barrowe in the county of Chester, chaplain, (6s:8d), forestalled 100 bushels of barley coming to the market. Thomas Deane, late of C.stilton, in the county of Chester, husbandman (40d), forestalled 40 bushels of rye coming to the market. Agnes Pantre, late of Chester, 'huswif' (12d), keeps in her house divers persons who misconduct themselves. Geoffrey Ibid of Hondbrige, drover (4d), forestalled 10 hens, 12 geese and 80 eggs coming to the market. Roger Adam, late of the same (4d), forestalled 100 cheeses coming to the market. The said Roger (4d) bought and sold various goods and foods within the City and is not of the franchise. Page 19. Top of page missing. First entry of four or five lines missing Rose Cha. o page . (12d).. eggs, cheese, butter and other foodstuffs. William Wryne, late o page . gentleman (40d) keeps Alice Forshagh in adultery. W. Chaloner, late of Chester, miller (40d), brews [ale] for sale and bakes bread and sells it and is not of the franchise. Thomas Hokenhull, late of the same, gentleman (8d) for the same, and he is not of the franchise. George Wombe, late of the same, baker (12d), keeps in his house divers persons who misconduct themselves, beggars and vagabonds. Thomas Monnyng, late of the same, fishmonger (12d), keeps William Donald, carrier, and others who misconduct themselves. Richard Horforde (illegible) received in his house Alice H[umsdon?] (12d). Page 19v. 5 lines or more missing at top of page... Thomas Harper, George Lyghtfote and Geoffrey Tarlton o page ., butchers, forestalled 100.. and 100 oxen and cows coming to the market. William Bostok late of Huxley in the county of Chester, drover, for the like. William Eggerton late of ristilton, in the county of Chester, drover, for the like. Thomas Bridde, late o page . in the said county, drover, for the like. Richard Bridd, late of High page d in the county aforesaid, drover, for the like. Robert Bridd, late of the same, drover, for the like. Page 20. Three entries almost completely missing.. Irisshwoman of the City of Chester (40d) sells.. and ale and is not of the franchise... Late of Chester (40d), brews ale for sale and is not of the franchise. Gilb. late of the same, labourer (12d), obstructed le.. and also he is a common night-wanderer... Late of the same, 'huswiff' (40d) keeps adulterers in her house... Late of the same, wright (illegible) brews ale for sale and is not of the franchise. Margery, Prioress of the nuns of the City of Chester and of the convent of that place, obstructed one cellar lying between the lands of Ralph Randnescroft and the house of John Clerke. Page 20v. List [mainly missing] of persons presented for breaking the assize of bread, including Thomas Weddynge, Henry Donald, John Couper, Thomas Chomley, Richard Couper. William Chaloner, late of the City of Chester, miller, obstructed Claverton Lane ([5s?]: 8d or to make the same lane level as before). Robert Gyle late of the same, butcher (8d); assault on John Pekkow.
