16. Indictment by the jury of Henry Houghton of Chester, ironmonger, for the following offences in Chester. On 24 May 1575 for assaulting Hugh Sparke in the house of Thomas Benet. On 26 June 1575 for assaulting Edmund Annion and Thomas Brabant. On 26 June 1575 for assaulting John Wilkinson, constable, in the execution of his office concerning the assault made on the said Edmund Annion and Thomas Brabant. On 9 July 1576 for assaulting David Chambers. On 18 Nov. 1576 for abusing Ralph Rasingreve. On 1 March 1576/7 at the tenth hour for assaulting Richard Barker. On 21 April 1578 for assaulting Richard Broster in the treasury of the Pentice of the City of Chester, and that the said Henry had committed similar offences at other times in the city and was a man of very bad repute.

Indictment that Henry Houghton of Chester, ironmonger, on Friday 9 Feb. 1573/4 in the Pentice Court of Chester concerning a plea of debt of £6 between the said Henry Houghton, pl. and James Prescott of Bannell, co. Flint, yeoman, def. stated that £6 was owing to him when 50s., part of the said £6 had already been repaid, so that the said Henry gave false evidence contrary to the act of 5 Elizabeth

Examination of Jane Lord alias Gun', wife of Richard Lord alias Gun concerning the theft of 29s. from the purse of Alice Hill, widow, in Love Lane, Chester. The said Jane admitted to the theft, due to the 'temptans of the devill'.
60. ?Jurors presentments, including persons who 'set out ther boordes or barrell staves so farre in to the street and builde them vp so hye that it is a great anoyance to some of ther neighboures nether semely nor comely to be suffered in such a cittie as this is'. Also a reference to 'divers of the steares' in Watergate Street being broken down and not fit for people to go up and down.
