DescriptionSETTLEMENT previous to the MARRIAGE of John Brereton, jun., (s. & h. of John Brereton, senior, of Alsager, yeoman) and Martha Shaw (one of the daughters of William Shaw, en., of Mutlowe, yeoman), between (1) the said J. Brereton, senior, (2) John Lawton, jun., of Alsager, yeoman and William Shaw, jun., of Mutlowe (youngest son of said William Shaw senior) (3) the said J. Brereton, jun., and (4) the said Martha Shaw ------ Moiety of a messuage or tenement with appurtenances in ALSAGER with all its lands, meadows, etc. (leased to J.Brereton, senior, by Roger Wilbraham of Wickmalbank alias Namptwich, esq., on 13. Jul. last past for 80 years), i.e., The Little House with the Parlour and two Butteries, The Two High Chambers, and Cocklofts over them, and the Store Chamber, that did formerly belong to the other end of the said messuage, and the New Barn (except one half bay next to the Lane) and liberty to the threshing floor, and the Hempbuts next to the Kiln, and the grass thereon, and one half all the fruit from the trees on any part of the tenement, and also one Moiety of the Ovenhouse and Turfe House, and also all the closes or parcels of ground, parcel of the said tenement, called The Green Hoult Field, The Great Hoult Field, the Little Hoult Field, The Heath Place, The Blake Field, The Great Harratt, The Little Harratt, The Pease Croft, The Great Meadow, and the Blackfield Meadow, and all appurtenances thereto belonging, for the residue of the term of the lease or life of J. Brereton jun. with remainder to Martha Shaw, with an annual rent charge of œ18 to J. Brereton senior Seals, 2 papered, 3 missing. Parchment.
