DescriptionAttested copy of a settlement between Alexander Elcock of Cholmondeley, Cheshire, esq., John Clark of the Hough in Wybunbury, Cheshire, esq., and Elizabeth, his wife, daughter of the said Alexander and Charlotte, his late wife, and William Massey of Chester, gentleman, upon the marriage of the said John and Elizabeth, of the eighth part of a water fulling mill called the lower fulling mill on the S. side of the R. Dee., one eighth part of a stone tower, two messuages with engines, waterworks, pipes, cisterns and other instruments for raising water and conveying it from the R. Dee throughout the city and suburbs of Chester, with the right to dig and place waterpipes in the streets of the same, and one eighth part of one fifth part of a messuage, rood of land and 2 streams of water flowing under a maltmill on the N. side of the R. Dee between the 'through' of the said mill and the walls of the city, also one fourth part of 4 messuages with shops and cellars on the W. side of Northgate Street formerly in the tenure of John Jones, John Palin, William Starkey, Sarah Queen and Zachery Nicholls and then of John Jones, John Bennion and Mary Johnson, widow, also one fourth part of 2 messuages with the Cockpit etc. in Foregate Street, formerly in the tenure of Charles Price and William Hill and then in the tenure of Thomas Dickson and William Hancock. To hold to the use of the said Alexander during his lifetime, and then to the said John and Elizabeth.
