DescriptionLease and release, the release being a mortgage from John Miles of Hampstead, Middlesex, esq., and Hugh Mulleneux of Liverpool, liquor merchant, executors of the will of Joseph Miles of Liverpool, esq., deceased, with the consent of Margaret Mellor, daughter of the said Joseph Miles and widow of Samuel Ecking Mellor, deceased, to James Lowe of Southampton Buildings, Chancery Lane, Middlesex, gentleman. of the third share of the following messuages in Northgate Street formerly belonging to Samuel Ecking Mellor: a messuage worth £40 p.a. formerly in the tenure of Miss Williams, then of Mr. Harrison; a messuage worth £30 6s. p.a. formerly in the tenure of John Charles, then of Mrs. Charles; a messuage worth £10 6s p.a. formerly in the tenure of Jones Evans, then of Mr. Cooper; a messuage worth £35 6s p.a., formerly in the tenure of Samuel Saunders, then of Mr. Axe; a messuage worth £10 6s., p.a., formerly in the tenure of Thomas Chaloner, then of Mr. Parry; a messuage worth £35 formerly in the tenure of Ann Garratt, then of Mr. Oldham; a messuage worth £40 p.a. formerly in the tenure of Elizabeth Bailey, then of .... Roberts and then of Mrs. Youds; a messuage worth £9 6s. p.a., formerly in the tenure of Meredith Williams, then of Mr. Denson; a shop under the messuage of Mrs. Garratt worth £20 p.a. formerly in the tenure of .... Tudor, then of Joseph Harrison, then of Mr. Foulkes; a messuage worth £8 8s. formerly in the tenure of .... Lloyd, then of Mrs. Burrows; a messuage worth £7 p.a. formerly in the tenure of .... Coventry, then of Mrs. Owens; and a messuage worth £1 4s. formerly in the tenure of Kitty Chidlow, then unoccupied. To hold to the said James Lowe to secure repayment of £1,000 borrowed by James William Sowerby of 5 Fish Street Hill, London, merchant; for the purchase of the same, reference being made to a mortgage on 23 Nov. 1813 from Samuel Ecking Mellor to James William Sowerby of this property, which mortgage had since been disputed, with details re collection of rents from the same.

Memorandum dated 29 May 1829 of the repayment by Peter Sowerby, executor of will of James William Sowerby, of the said £1,000 with interest, i.e. £1006 5s
