DescriptionPetition of Thomas Ley, innholder, stating that his father had possessed a messuage and tenement in Foregate Street, adjoining the Eastgate and City Walls, which in the late wars, in 1644, was taken down on the order of Lord Byron, then Lord Governor of the City, for the better defence of the same. He asks a lease of the premises for three lives and 21 years. Note: 'Mr. Browne of Upton to have notice of this peticion and to make his claime within a month if any right he have to the premisses and then this measure to be further considered of.'
