DescriptionDraft copy minutes. [The two first orders are as given in the Assembly Book, then proceedings are given as follows] Upon the petition of Daniel Bavand, gentleman, that he was appointed Town Clerk and Clerk of the Pentice and other courts of the City by the Commissioners for the well governing and regulating of corporations, and asking for confirmation in the office, it was ordered that he be confirmed as desired. Upon the petition of George Bulkeley that by consent of Assembly and with the approval of the Commissioners, he was admitted Deputy Town Clerk and has been diligent in the business of the office, and asking to be confirmed in office during good behaviour, only removable for some 'notorious offence or misdemeanour' by a majority of the Mayor, Aldermen and Common Council, it was ordered that he be confirmed as desired. The House, being informed that Robert Shone, one of the Common Council has declared that he will not come to any Assembly, that he has absented himself ever since he was sworn and it appearing on oath that he had warning to attend this Assembly, it was ordered that he be fined £5 to be levied by the Sheriffs by distress or otherwise.
