Date1731
DescriptionLETTER from John Wicksted to (Lord Cholmondeley); states that one Potter was Steward for WIDNES, and one Bromley for HALTON, when Lord Cholmondeley's grant commenced, but that they refused to deliver up the courts until they saw the deputation; the April and Christmas halmote courts must therefore be accounted for by John Chadwick; Mr. Smith will attend the Kings audit at Chester in October and the rent as usual then; reports that the Castle and stable are in very bad repair and will soon become useless, which may be of ill consequence since Halton is the gaol for both Counties in that jurisdiction; recommends the lease of Halton bailiff serjeant's place. Nantwich. Paper.
