Description/1 1873-5 - Includes: papers relating to Mond's sulphur extraction process, to insurance policies (on his life and the works), and to the renewal of patents. Also includes jottings relating to the performance of the Galloway boilers at Winnington, and letters from Charles Holland relating to the laying of railway lines at Winnington and to engineering matters in general. /2 1876 - Includes: letters from C Holland (as above); letters from Brunner to Mond (chiefly written during a visit by Mond to Tyneside), and letters from Henry Brunner (of Hutchinson's works, Widnes) to both Mond and Brunner. /3 1876-9 - Includes: letters from Prosper Haurez (Solvay et Cie, Dombasle); Walter Weldon; Ferdinand Hurter (Gaskell, Deacon & Co, Widnes); Carl Pieper; Charles Holland et al. /4 1880 - Includes: letters from Brunner to Mond; chemical analyses and other papers from Solvay et Cie (Couillet, Brussels and Dombasle) including details of the latter's supply agreements with German glass-manufacturers, and letters of application for posts with testimonials and curricula vitae. /5 1881 - Includes: letters from Brunner to Mond written in the course of a visit by the former to London and Bournemouth; letters from C M Holland to Brunner and Mond (relating to loans); bill for repairs and maintenance at Winnington Hall; cost statement for extensions to works, and letters from Henry Brunner (Hutchinson's, Widnes) to Mond, relating to the strength of bleach made by Deacon's process and the feasibility of going into chlorate production. /6 1882-3 - Includes: letters to Mond from the Bernstein Electric Light Co, Prosper Haurez (Solvay et Cie, Dombasle), Walter Weldon, F J Richards-Seamer, William Siemens, James Dewer (Royal Institution), T H Stuart (Charles Tennant & Co, Hebburn works, Newcastle) and H Coghill. Also including letter from Henry Glendinning relating to his appointment as chemist (1883). /7 1884 - Chiefly relates to application for patents concerning the development of processes for the production of ammonia from coal, and the design of gas producers. Includes letters from: Carl Pieper (Berlin), George Beilby, William Young, W P Thompson (British and Foreign Patent Office), George E Davies (Sheffield) and Arthur Brin (of Brin Frres, Paris). Also including various hotel and domestic bills of Mond. /8 1876-87 - All in German. Includes letters from inter alia B Rosenstein, Ferdinand Kopfer, Dr S Pirtz, A Spiegel, C Schorlemmer, Dr Theodor Schlopman, G H Bauer, Ferdinand Hurter, Max Schaffner, G Lunge, Leo Wertheimer, A W Hoffmann, Alex Bernstein, Loewig (copy) and Wilhelm Paysan.
