DescriptionThe General Chemicals Division was a predecessor to the Mond Division and merged with the Alkali Division in 1964 to form the Mond Division. Records in this file reflect the Division's work prior to its merging. Reports include: Production of 500 tons/week of 'Bromine free' Liquid Chlorine at Rocksavage Works; Production of Low-Bromine Chlorine by the Liquefaction of Castner-Kellner Works Tail Gas; Continuous Production of Sodium Hypochlorite Liquor by the Single Tower Preferential Absorption Process; Mercury Cells - An assessement of present knowledge of Mark 1 Cell performance with particular preference to future operation of unites at high current density; Hydrogen Supplies to Laporte Chemicals and for Compressed Sales; Section memorandum in Cassel Works; and an expenditure proposal for the supply of hydrogen to Laporte's Baronet Works at Warrington.
