| Description | QDL/2/8/1 and 2 are collective recognizances in the form of parchment rolls, QDL/2/8/3-5 are bundles of licences, QDL/2/8/3 including a testimonial of 1789 and QDL/2/8/5 a testimonial of 1808 found with them. The Act 26 George.II c.31 (1753) required no new licence to be granted without a testimonial from the incumbent and churchwardens of the parish. QDL/2/8/5 also includes papers that indicate a return in 1808 by the constables of alesellers in each township. One of these names two inns in Thornton Mays. Remainder are bundles of single recognizances. |
