This catalogue is where we publish up-to-date information about our collections. Some archive collections are not yet fully catalogued so please contact us if you cannot find something that you think should be here. The amount of detail varies – as a minimum you will find a summary of the contents of an archive collection. We will also describe individual items or even pages in a volume in more detail where it is most helpful. Improvements are made to the catalogue almost daily.

You will not usually find digital images of items in our collections in the catalogue though we do use it to publish a small number of digitised collections. There is much more information on where and how to access our collections and services, including digitised collections, in the FAQs.

You will find suggestions of how to search to get the best results in ‘Hints and tips’. ‘Useful links’ will help guide you to other online catalogues and resources that feature Cheshire collections.

We work hard to make sure that catalogue information is accurate but please do tell us if you think something is wrong. A lot of the descriptions are taken directly from the archive material so historic spellings and language appear. Our usual practice is to catalogue records reflecting how they were created and some terms used in the past are no longer considered acceptable and of course we do not condone this language. Most people who use the online catalogue will put historic records in context, but we aim to update language used to describe records relating to learning disability heritage.
