AbstractByram farmed at Pool Farm, Little Sutton, Wirral, 1831-71. He then retired, married, and lived on until 1886. His cash accounts (reproduced in tabulated form) are examined in order to discern something of his farming life and practices, and to assess the profitability of his 220-acre mixed dairy and arable farm. It is shown that the farm was profitable, and that, by the time of his retirement, Byram had achieved a fair level of prosperity.
