Administrative HistoryJohn Norman Pring 1884-1972, was the grandson of the founder of John Pring and Son, wire manufacturers, Elworth. He attended Sandbach School and a Jesuit college Maison de Melle, in Belgium. He studied chemistry at Owens College, Manchester, and electrochemistry in USA where his diaries record a meeting with Thomas Edison in 1906/7. He served in the war 1914-1919 on the Western Front and in Mesopotamia. His later career was at Manchester University and Woolwich Arsenal.
