Administrative HistoryEdward S Woolf of Nantwich established the South Cheshire Brewery, Wistaston road, Crewe, in 1871. In 1897 Woolfs Ltd was established as a limited company to acquire the former business.
In 1923 Woolfs Limited leased the brewery and forty-two licensed houses to Ind Coope & Co Limited., who bought the company in the same year. Soon after Woolfs Limited ceased to brew.
In January 1924 its registered offices move to Midland Chambers Station Street, Burton-on-Trent, and later moved to 120 Station Street in February 1935. In 1946 Woolfs limited was liquidated and wound up by Ind Coope & Allsop Ltd
