Administrative History | Dennis Vosper was born in 1916, the only son of Mr and Mrs G L Vosper of Heswall. In July 1940 he married Margaret Ashford at Rostrevor in County Down. After service in the Cheshire Regiment, he was appointed agent to the Knutsford Conservative Association and then adopted as prospective Parliamentary candidate for the newly-created Runcorn constituency in January 1949, and elected in 1950; he held the seat until he resigned in 1964, when he was created a life peer as Baron Runcorn of Heswall. He held various offices in the Conservative party and government between 1950 and 1963, including Minister of Health in 1957. He died in January 1968 |
