Administrative HistoryKings' Friends was constituted 14 Mar 1793 as Lodge Number 520 at the Provincial Grand Lodge in Chester. The first minute book covering 1793-1798 is missing but the series of minute books is other wise complete. King's Friends' became Number 553 in July 1815. It became Number 370 in Feb 1833 and finally Number 293 in October 1863. King's Friends' Lodge was founded before Crown Lodge but Crown Lodge initially prospered most. Officers of Crown Lodge were involved in the installation of officers of King's Friends in 1798 though these services had previously been refused by King's friends, leading to some ill feeling. The minute book of the Crown Lodge (1794-1809) passed to King's Friends when the "Crown" warrant was transferred elsewhere.
