Description | Scope and Content\r\nAt Special Halmote of Manor of Halton, by Thomas Brooke of Norton Priory, esq., and Sir Foster Cunliffe of Acton Park, Co., Denbigh, Bt. (Trustees of said Sir R. Brooke), in consideration of the respective purchase prices previously made with the monies of the present Sir R. Brooke, then a Minor, to the said Sir R. Brooke of Norton Priory, Bt., now of age, ------ a Cottage or burgage with its garden and appurtenances in HALTON at rent of 4d. pa., purchased 28. Apr. 1795 from Martha Vose of Halton, widow, and others for £44, and also a close or parcel of land with its appurtenances in HALTON called the Priest Croft [acreage missing] at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 6d. p.a., purchased from William Acton of Halton on 29. Mar. 1796 for £320., and also a messuage tenement and Kiln in HALTON called Old Mr. Chasehyre's or Pickering's Farm with its lands as follows:- 6 parcels of land called the Broadwell Fields, 2 called the Okells Holdings, 1 called the Lands with the Kiln Yords thereto adjoining, the Well Meadow with the 2 Yards near thereto, the Summer Lane Croft, 2 parcels called the one Butts, 1 called the Priest Croft, and the Parkers Meadow, all in HALTON and ASTMORE in the MANOR of HALTON, (in all 34 acres of local measure), and also Brigg's alias Gregg's Croft in HALTON (1¢ acre of large local measure) at rent to the Lord of the Manor of £1 p.a., and also 1 Mossroom on HALTON MOSS belonging to the said messuage, and also a cottage or burgage in HALTON then divided into 2 dwelling houses called Houghs, with its 2 orchards and its parcel of land behind the same called the Backside (in all 1 acre of local measure), together with 1 Mossroom on HALTON MOSS, and also a messuage or burgage with appurtenances in HALTON called Husons with 1 garden or orchard and a close of land called the Backside containing ¢ acre with a Mossroom on HALTON MOSS, and also 4 parcels of land in HALTON called the two Rivers, the Bridge Hey and Sidleys Backside, in all 4 acres of local measure, all the above purchased on 15. Dec. 1796 from Daniel Orred of Chester for £5250 paid by late Sir Richard Brooke when alive, and also 1 parcel of alnd in HALTON called Fletchers Edge Hey, 1? acre of local measure, with its appurtenances, at rent to Lord of the Manor of 1/5 p.a., purchased from Thomas Fletcher of Halton for £315., and also a parcel of land near the Higher Edge in HALTON called Maddocks Edge Hey (1 acre of local measure), and also a parcel of land (60 perches of local measure) in the Dowle within HALTON theretofore held with a messuage and tenement in HALTON late the inheritance of William Acton who sold the same to John Jackson, and also a parcel of ground in HALTON at the bottom of a close called the Backside belonging to a cottage called Ford's House, which parcel of ground contained in length to the front 6 yards and ran in a straight line across the said Backside together with the 4 several messuages or cottages and dwelling houses built on the said premises, at total rent to the Lord of the Manor of 1s/2d. p.a., all the above being purchased 5. Jun. 1797 from John Jackson for £800, and also 2 several parcels of land staked off from 2 closes in HALTON called the Marled Field and Briery Croft and containing altogether 14 perches, purchased 1. May 1800 from King Nixon of Astmore, tanner, for £26. 5s. 0d., and also 2 several parcels of land staked out from 2 closes in HALTON formerly called Houghtons Brooke Heys but then called the two Brook Fields and containing together 1r. and [1] perch, purchased 5. May 1800 from Samuel Weston of Oxford, gentleman, for £35., and also 2 closes or parcels of land in HALTON called the Marl Field and the Hall Field, in all 3? Cheshire acres, and also a messuage and tenement with appurtenances in ASTMORE called William King's Messuage and Tenement, i.e., the House and housing thereto beloning, the Folds, orchards, gardens, and the lands called the Lower Hall field, the further field, the New Heys, the Briery Croft, Summer Lane Croft, Lamer Bridge, the Crib at the Heath Gate, the Little Meadow, the Low Croft, Appleton's Acre, the Meadow at the Heath Gate, 4 Quarters in the Doles in Halton Meadow and the close called the Shed, together with 1¢ Mossrooms on HALTON MOSS, at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 16/4 p.a., and also a parcel of land with appurtenances in HALTON formerly called Gardiners Brook Hays but then called William Tarbucks Brook Hays (¥ acre of local measure), purchased 23. Jul. 1800 from King Nixon of Astmore, tanner, for £5000, and also 2 parcels of land in HALTON called the two Street Moors (10a. 0r. 3p. stat. meas.) theretofore held with William Acton's House in HALTON with their appurtenances, and also parcels of land in HALTON called Banners Stitch or Great Meadow, the Wheat Hey or Oat Field, the Great Noggers field, the little Noggers field, the Goldsmiths Hay and the Hay Pitts, usually held with the capital messuage called HALLWOOD or HALL OF WOOD (stat. acreage omitted), purchased 28. Aug. 1800 from Elizabeth Matthews of Great Neston and Sarah Matthews of Liverpool, widows, Esther and Mary Matthews of Liverpool, spinsters and Robert Newton late of Hallwood but then of Chester, esq., for £7000, and also a parcel of land in HALTON called the Half Field (¢ acre of local measure) lately part and parcel of a messuage called Jacksons, and also 2 parcels of land in HALTON lately called the Long Hey and the Sandiway but then called the lane House [ ] and the Quarter in the Butty Close (¥ acre of customary measure) then lately part and parcel of a burgage or cottage and tenement in HALTON theretofore called Millingtons and then the lane house, and also a messuage or burgage in HALTON theretofore called Dunbabins or Lawrinsons Tenement or House and its lands called the Backside, the Brook Heyes, Dunbabins Meadow alias Dunbabins Bank Meadow, the Quarter at the Broken Cross, the Quarter by the Ash Tree in HALTON, the Hill Yard alias Davises Hill Yard with 1¢ Mossrooms on HALTON MOSS, and another Messuage or cottage in HALTON called Davises House and its one garden and 1 moss on HALTON MOSS, and parcels of land in HALTON called the Brunt Acre, the Loont and the Back house Croft (1? acres of local measure, at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 1/6 p.a., and also 2 parcels of land in HALTON called Houghton Break Heys and the quarter at the Brook or the two Brook fields (EXCEPT 2 parcels of land then lately staked out vontaining 1r. and 1p. and then lately deld to Sir Foster Cunliffe and Thomas Brooke) purchased 30. Aug. 1800 from said Samuel Weston for £1700., and also a parcel of land (7 perches) being part and parcel of a garden in HALTON belonging to a messuage or burgage called Robinsons with the appurtenances, purchased 29. Dec. 1800 from John Hellinsworth of Halton and William Fletcher of Whitley in Wirral, yeomen, for £116., and also a cottage or burgage in HALTON called Jacksons Houes or Tenement with its 4 adjoining lands, theretofore one close only containing 1 acre of local measure) at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 1/- p.a., purchased 6. Jan. 1801 from John Fletcher of Chester, printer, for £460., and also an messuage or burgage and tenement in HALTON and ASTMORE within the Manor of HALTON called Westons House with 1 barn, 1 stable, 1 cowhouse, 1 plowhouse, 1 cart-house and all other its outbuildings, and its lands in HALTON or ASTMORE called the Ford, the Garden, the Orchard, the Long Croft, the Round Croft, the Croft at the lane side, the Hemp Yard, the two Loones, the twelve perches in Robinsons Padge Croft, the Moss Croft, the two Briers, the Marsh Hey, the 4 closes of land called the Galls, the Marled Hey, the 2 closes called the Lamber Bridges, and 1 Mossroom on HALTON MOSS, and also another messuage or burgage and tenement in ASTMORE called Higginsons House and its lands called the Hemp Yard, the Lond Croft, the Green Croft, the Acre in the Hall Field, the two Fox Holes, the Lamas Breech, the Marsh Hey and the Patch, in all 6¢ acres of local measure, together with 1 Mossroom on HALTON MOSS, and also a parcel of land in ASTMORE called Morley Croft (1 acre of local meas.) at rent to the Lord of the Manor of £1. 2. 4¢ p.a., purchased 30. Apr. 1801 from Samuel Weston of Oxford and William Weston of Philadelphia in North America, gentlemen, for £4000, and also a percel of land in HALTON called Whitleys Meadow theretofore called the Carriers or Byrons Meadow, 3r. 17. perches of local measure, at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 1/- p.a., purchased 30. Apr. 1801 from William Whitley of Aston near Budworth, surgeon, for £140, and also a cottage. garden, backside and mossroom with their appurtenances in HALTON called Fords House and Backside, at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 6d. p.a., purchased 30. Apr. 1801 from George Fryer of Norton, yeoman, for £120., and also a burgage cottage or tenement with the stable and garden in HALTON lately called Broomfields House and Backside, and also 2 parcels of land in HALTON, called the Hill Yard or Cellar Yard and the Smithy Croft and 1 Mossroom on HALTON MOSS with the appurtenances (£/' acre), at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 12d. p.a., purchased 24. Dec. 1801 from Ann Chadwick of Halton and John Chadwick of London, painter, for £250, and also 2 parcels of land in ASTMORE within HALTON called the New Fields (2 Cheshire acres), and also a parcel of land there called Jannions Meadow (3 Cheshire acres), at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 4/6 p.a., purchased 29. Dec. 1801 from Thomas Eaton of Halton, surgeon, for £416,, and also 1 parcel of land with its appurtenances in the Hall Field within HALTON called the half Acre in the Hall Field (¢ acre 10p. of local measure), at ren to the Lord of the Manor of 3d. p.a., purchased 25. Feb. 1802 from Margaret Billington of Stretton, widow, Philip Parr of Astmore, yeoman, and Mary his wife, Thomas Fletcher and Esther his wife, for £130., and also a cottage and barn adjoining thereto out of which barn the said cottage had been made, with the appurtenances in HALTON, and which said Barn was on the East side of the Public Highway and opposite to Samuel Leathwood's Messuage, at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 1d. p.a., purchased 16. Aug. 1802 from Thomas Sumner of Halton, yeoman, for £50, and also a cottage or burgage with its appurtenances in HALTON called Thomas Carters House near to Thomas Davises with its garden and Backside containing 20 perches, at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 6d. p.a., purchased 16. Aug. 1802 from said Thomas Sumner of Halton, yeoman, for £50., and also 2 new messuages or dwelling houses built by Joseph Leathwood together with the North end of the Backside running lineable with the said dwelling houses (10 perches of local measure), with their appurtenances, theretofore part and parcel of Clottens Tenement in HALTON, at rent to the Lord of the Manor of 2d. p.a., purchased 16. Aug. 1802 from said Thomas Sumner for £200., and also an edifice or building with its appurtenances used for a Butcher's shop in HALTON, near to the S. E. side of Stanley Leathwood's messuage or dwelling house built by said Joseph Leathwood on part of Clottens Tenement, at rent to the Lord of the Manor of ¢d. p.a., purchased 16.
