DescriptionSETTLEMENT previous to MARRIAGE (Rev. J. R. Harris and Mary Bovet) between (1) James Gay of Shapwick in par. of Axminster, Devon, gentleman and Elizabeth his wife (nee Bovet), (2) Mary Bovet of Uplyme, Devon, spinster (Elizabeth Gay and Mary Bovet being the 2 grand-daughters of Elizabeth Hayne of Uplyme widow, deced.), (3) the Rev. John Read Harris of Lyme Regis, Dorset, clerk, (4) Thomas White of Lyme Regis, joiner (surviving Exor. & Trustee of Elizabeth Hayne), to Thomas Shute of Pinney, in par. of Axmouth, Devon, eqs., and John Hayne Bovet of Taunton, Somerset, gentleman,---- House orchard garden and 80 acres of ground called WOODHOUSE in Manor of UPLYME and also a messuage and dwelling house orchard garden and set of Grist Mills together with 2 meadows called Colway Meads (4 acres), and also Rooms chambers on North side of the entry and 1 other detached house in East side of the little garden, and also an orchard and garden (1 acre) and the meadow below the orchard (4½ a.) and all messuages belonging and also the tenement with gardens, etc., called the Black Dog (the last for 99 years).
