DescriptionAGREEMENT between Thomas de Beston, Esquire, and William le Venables, Lord of Thorneton, whereby it is agreed that the said Thomas shall have all the said William's part of the site of the Manor of HELLESBY [Helsby] and the said William shall have 1 acre of meadow in HELLESBY in le Grenes near the vill of Hellesby worth 2s. and a half selion in le Hemlegh worth 6d., and since the said William is not yet of sufficient age to enter into a bond and make security to the said Thomas according to the laws and statutes of the Kingdom of England, it is agreed that the said William shall swear on the gospels that as soon as he shall be of sufficient age and it is required by the said Thomas or his attorney within 15 days after such request made to him, he shall make sufficient security to the said [...] according to the counsel of the said Thomas, and the [...] Thomas in the same way shall swear and make sufficient [...] security concerning the said acre of meadow and selion. Witnesses: Sir John le Massy Kt., John de Legh, Richard le Massy brother of John Massy. Given in the Manor of Tatton, the Saturday next before the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary the Virgin, 16 Richard II. Seal missing from tongue. Indenture. Parchment. Endorsed: 'a deade made betwixt Thomas. de Bestone and the lorde of Thorneton [...] wherin Bestone gyves a meadow in the greens and a sellion in Hemsleighe' 'a material deade' (16th Cent. hand).
