Description | MARRIAGE COVENANT and other COVENANTS, between Rowlland Hyll, esq., and Hugh Cholmondeley of Cholmondeley, esq., whereby said Hugh covenants to marry Rowlland's neice Anne Dormayn before 2. Feb. next ensuing, if she be willing, and Rowlland covenants similarly on Anne's behalf that she will marry Hugh. Hugh covenants that, within one month of the said marriage, he will convey to Rowlland Hyll and to William Hill, clerk, John Gratewood and Edward Barker, lands and tenements of his inheritance of the yearly value of £26. 13. 4d. to the Use of the said Anne for her life clear of all charges. Rowlland covenants that, after the said marriage and after the conveyance by Hugh of the above mentioned lands, he will convey to William Buckeley, gentleman, his s. & h. Thomas Buckeley, Griffyth Hynton and Edward Hynshull, esquires, the MANOR of BIKELEY [Bickley] and all other his lands, tenements and hereditaments within the Towns of BIKELEY and HETHESTON alias HEYLASTON [Hetherson] to his own Use for his life and after his death to that of the said Hugh and Anne and their lawful issue, failing such issue to Anne Lech, wife of John Lech of Carewordyn [Carden], 'sister of haulf Blode' of the said Anne, and her lawful issue, failing such issue to William Dormayn the said Anne's brother and his lawful issue, and failing such issue to the right heirs of the said Rowlland, and he also covenants that, should his own wife Alice claim dower in the MANOR of BIKELEY he will pay 100 Marks in recompence.
