DescriptionPapers re arbitration on matters in dispute between Tomkinson and Admiral Tollemache re property in Wettenhall: Tomkinson and Tollemache both claimed the Manor of Wettenhall, and had disagreements about cottages and enclosures on the commons and wastes, and the water supply to Wettenhall Mill which were referred to arbitrators; at the same time the opportunity was taken to enclose the remaining commons.The bundle includes copy deed of indemnity between Tollemache and Rev James Tomkinson and others re Tollemache estate accounts kept by the late Henry Tomkinson, 1824; schedule of title deeds re manor of Wettenhall from 13th century, memoranda re cottages etc in dispute, 1831, draft agreements to refer to arbitration, 1832, 1833; notes of depositions at the Crown Inn, Nantwich, including evidence re height of water at Wettenhall Mill Feb -April 1833; copy inclosure award Oct 1833; draft deed of exchange between Tomkinson and Tollemache, Oct 1834; map of the area around the village and Wettenhall Green (copied from the 1794 map of estates in Wettenhall belonging to Henry Tomkinson and the Earl of Dysart by Joseph Fenna, 1794 (see DTW 2477/C/50)) and related correspondence
