(1st) Finance Committee:- set up to sign cheques and seal deeds for completing purchases 19 Oct 1888. Dissolved by the Board 13 Dec 1888. Replaced by General Purposes Committee. General Purposes Committee:- set up to transact business of Salt Union in London between full Board meetings 13 Dec 1888. Dissolved by the Board 12 Jul 1898. Replaced by Finance and Estate Committee. Finance and Estate Committee:- set up to supervise all accounts, transfers, sales, purchases, leases and lettings of the land and properties of the Salt Union 12 Jul 1898. Dissolved by Board 19 Aug 1898. Replaced by Works and Estates Committee. Works and Estates Committee:- set up 19 Aug 1898 to replace Finance and Estate Committee. Dissolved 30 Mar 1899. (2nd) Finance Committee:- set up 30 Mar 1899 to replace Works and Estates Committee. Meetings held in London until 9 May 1898. 12 May 1898 a new General Purposes Committee was appointed by the "enlarged" board of directors, and thereafter meetings were held in Liverpool to which the Head Office had been transferred. Vols 1-3 formerly catalogued as SU 1-3.
