DescriptionSome correspondence with Mr Gibbs concerning the Buckworth v Buckworth case including the importance of Mr Buckworth's personal estate. Mr Wright's allowances, accounts between Mr Wright and his sons and clerk Thomas Orrell, land tax payments, bills for general maintenance.
Memoranda, correspondence, minutes and instructions from Samuel Wright to his sons, mostly letters between Samuel and Henry Wright concerning various estate affairs and accounts after Mr Buckworth's death, the Hazledine legacy (from Jan) but also Henry to Strethill of Dr Norbury's mortgage and a loan of £100 to ?Ged Penny.
Some points of note in the estate correspondence: correspondence from Charles Tomkinson concerning necessary repairs at Gwersylt. Also correspondence concerning non payment of tithes and chief rents at Gwersylt [Gwersyllt] addressed to John Jackson (tanner) and valuation of corn tithe rent for Ecculsham below ditch supplied by John Booth junior. Letter from John Birtles on behalf of John Peak Slater who requests tenancy of the Public House at Somerford. The building of a footbridge across the river Dane between Mr Antrobus' and Mr Amson's land. Agreement with James Jervis to continue to hold his farm in Somerford from the death of Lady Killmorey to the remainder of the year and one more year. Repair of a wall weakened by M Foster, a tenant in Congleton Moss and the plight of Mr and Mrs Gartside of Congleton address to Peter Kinsey, overseer of the poor, and an extract of a lease of three lives to John Leah for a cottage in Congleton. Also rentals and accounts received for the Welsh estates of Ann Shakerley and Mrs Buckworth.
Receipts for meals and drinks from inns including the Green Dragon in Chester and the Crown in Northwich.
Letter from Samuel Wright to Mr Hindle at Lincoln's Inn concerning the administrators of Mr Shakerley's will and circumstances around the time of his and Mr Buckworth's deaths (30 Sept).
