Administrative HistoryCheshire West and Chester Council came into existence 1 April 2009 taking over from Cheshire County Council and the district councils of Chester City, Ellesmere Port and Neston and Vale Royal, and the Cheshire West Shadow authority which had operated alongside them in preparation for reorganisation
