DescriptionThe orphanage was established under the will of the LNWR Locomotive Engineer F W Webb, a generous benefactor, to provide for the children of deceased LNWR employees. It could accomodate 20 girls and 20 boys and was opened in 1911. The premises ceased to be used as an orphanage on 31 Mar 1961 and were legally closed 11 Feb 1962.
