Administrative History | Also known as Dukinfield Christ Church. Opened in 1879 as a parish church serving part of the Cheshire township of Dukinfield (formerly served by Dukinfield St. John), and small parts of the Lancashire township of Ashton under Lyne on the south bank of the River Tame (formerly in the parishes of Ashton-under-Lyne and Stalybridge New St. George, both in the diocese of Manchester). In 1894 all these areas became part of the borough of Stalybridge and the county of Cheshire. The church closed in 1976 when its parish was united with Stalybridge Holy Trinity. |
