Administrative History	The ancient parish of Tarporley comprised the four townships of Eaton, Rushton, Tarporley and Utkinton. The chapel of ease of St. John and Holy Cross, Cotebrook, was built in 1874, and that of St. Thomas, Eaton, was built in 1896. The mission room of St. Paul, Utkinton, was licensed for divine service in 1893.
