| Description | The examination of Jonathan Bayley by HM Justices. Jonathan Bayley stated that he was born in Biddulph in Staffordshire, his fathers' settlement. He later lived one year in service in Biddulph. He was then hired by the late Mr Cartwright of -------- in the township of Rode for one year & stayed two years. He then performed two more years in service in Rode. He was then hired in the township of Holmes Chapel for one year and lived there for two years when he was married. He then rented a farm @ twenty pounds in Rode where he lived for a further three years. He stated he had not done anything to gain settlement in Holmes Chapel. |
