DescriptionThis committee was established in January 1850, when Chester Corporation assumed responsibility for public baths and washhouses under the Baths and Washhouses Act, 1846. At its first meeting, the committee began negotiations to purchase the private baths and washhouses built near the Water Tower in 1849. The committee was absorbed into the Corporate Estate Committee in November 1871. The minute book includes a poster giving admission fees, c.1852
