Purchased from Richard Pope, 1878.
This property comprised a smithy and loft, with land at the rear, in the Gorse Stacks, near the corner of the Gorse Stacks and Brook St. Until c1872, the property was used as a coachhouse and stable. It was bought by Chester Corporation for the purpose of improving the Gorse Stacks, under powers conferred on them by the Public Health Act, 1875
